Local Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Margaret Baker, shows an example of one of the many orthopaedic surgery items she donated for Haiti relief from her clinic, The Center for Bone and Joint Surgery. After receiving a request from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Baker spearheaded the effort to collect medical supplies from the local health care community.
Other participants include Olympic Medical Center’s surgical services department, Dr. Peter Lewis, Jamestown Health Clinic, Fricks Pharmacy and the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Together they gathered and shipped three full pallets worth of medical supplies, prosthetics, vitamins and medications. Puget Sound Transfer provided a significant discount on the shipment of the items to the heart of the relief effort in Miami, Florida. The OMC Foundation paid the balance of shipping.
