JOB SUMMARY

The Respiratory Therapist provides professional and competent respiratory care services to Olympic Medical Center patients. This position performs physician-ordered and protocol- focused respiratory care procedures, and acts as a resource to physicians in relation to the technical aspects of care to all age-specific groups and types of patients. The RT demonstrates knowledge of principles of respiratory care and interprets appropriate information to identify each patient’s respiratory care needs and deliver appropriate therapy. The Respiratory Therapist acts in a manner consistent with Washington State’s professional practices for Respiratory Care Practitioners, as well as OMC’s organizational policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS AND EQUIPMENT COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION

·        Graduate of an accredited two-year respiratory therapy educational program approved by the State of Washington 

·        AARC member preferred

 

EXPERIENCE

·        Respiratory Therapist II requires 1 year of Respiratory Care experience in an acute care facility.

·        Respiratory Therapist III requires 2+ years of Respiratory Care experience in an acute care facility.

 

LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS

·        Must be a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Washington, and

·        must be credentialed through the NBRC:

o  RRT credential = RT II

o  RRT credential with one of the following: AE-C, NPS, ACCS, CPFT, RPFT = RT III

·        BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification required

(All staff performing PFT testing must have CPFT within 6 months of training.)
